Animism and Shamanism

Most of these links have a heavy base in Russian Indigenous practice and tradition. Siberian Shamanism is little-known and little-appreciated in the pagan world, which is ironic, because I believe it is where concepts like totemism started to originate (alongside Indigenous Australia).

Contemporary Shamanism; Flight of the Condor - The main site authored by Apu Kondor. It features articles on shamanism and the practice of shamanism, and also other resources. English is his second language, but most of the time this doesn't stop the articles from conveying their excellence. This site really deserves more notice.

Siberian Shamanism - Many well-written articles are found here, focusing on many different facets of Siberian shamanism. Some of the links are broken. A great non-commercialised site.

Tengerism - A simple and relatively easy site to navigate on Mongolian and Siberian shamanism.

The Endangered Uralic Peoples - These are some of the remaining cultures of the Uralic peoples, some of which WILL become extinct, regardless of preservation measures being introduced now. There is more information here on the culture, rather than any spirituality, but does it matter? Educate yourselves to the devastating way our society has and can still treat our Indigenous cultures.

Studies in Siberian Shamanism (Aado Lintrop) - A site of fairly well-researched articles on Siberian shamanism.

Pagan and Animist Forums

This is not a complete list of forums that I visit, or have visited, but this includes the ones that I carry the most respect for - I would send any person to any one of these forums without hesitation. Check them out.

Contemporary Shamanism - Built by Apu Kondor, and originating in Europe, this is the English mirror forum which focuses specifically on shamanism - both eclectic forms and more traditional forms. It's a small forum, with a small and intimate member base, but the topics are thoughtful and often revolve around psychopomping, otherworlds, death and the spirit.

Dragonswood - A fantastic site with some excellent in-depth discussion on pagan topics. Has a higher proportion of mature-aged members, rather than teenagers. Debates tend to be rational and compassionate. Welcomes all pagans, shamanists, heathens, etc.

Abuse of Indigenous Tradition / Plastic Shamanism

Native Religions and 'Plastic Shamanism' - Go here. See how the grown tradition of disrespectful, fraudulent or overtly commercial 'shamans' is harming Indigenous tradition worldwide.

New Age Frauds and Plastic Shamans - It's okay to learn about, love and appreciate Indigenous tradition, but this site outlines the parameters where such 'love' could be considered disrespectful. It's also great for anyone who is looking for real 'shamans' online, because they don't really exist!!!

Other

Other pagan, art, or spiritual sites that I love and respect.

The Green Wolf - Home of the magical authors Lupa and Taylor Ellwood. Some wonderful information here, and excellent animal-based jewellery, ritual items and pelts to be found here. Please check out the publications and articles of these authors.

Animal Energies

I generally work with animals directly to come up with meanings, but occasionally it helps to see what other people have found through their own connections and research.

Sayahda's Animal Totems - A great site on animal totems, very 'Ted Andrews' in nature, but it's online and free.

Working with Animal Spirits - A simple site, and one of the 'originals'. It uses a whole lot of keywords to associate with countless animals, including extinct and mythological creatures. The forums are pretty crap, but this was a 'starter' site for many people interested in animal energies.

Goddess Totems - Based on Australian animals, a short guide for people interested in learning more about Australian guides. Heavily commercialised.

Runes

Once you go runes, you can't go back. So they say.

Sunnyway - Probably the best and well-known comprehensive site for information on runes historically and within divination, featuring transcriptions of the Havamal and the Eddas.

Irminsul - A great site for information for both experienced and amateur runecasters. Also an amazing array of links to other rune sites.
