General Description:

The greater bird of paradise (Paradisaea apoda) was once known as the legless bird of paradise, as early skins didn’t have legs; and so people assumed that it was a heavenly bird that just floated wherever it needed to go to feed upon nectar. An avian gift from the gods! Greater birds of paradise live in lowland hill forests throughout New Guinea and Indonesian Islands. They have been hunted to extinction in some regions, for their plumes.
